SUMMARY:African Origins of Modern Healthcare
DESCRIPTION:This exhibit examines the roots of African medical practices in the Diaspora and in America. Of all the acknowledgements of the contributions to the New World\, the botanical contributions of enslaved Africans have gone unrecognized. One of the least explored aspects of the history of Africa pertains to African medicinal knowledge. The enslaved Africans laid the foundation for 20th century knowledge about the uses of plant life for medicine.

The festival will take place on the grounds of the museum and the beautiful Mann-Wagnon Park situated next to the Hillsborough River. We invite artisans\, crafters\, and entrepreneurs who would like to market and share their talent\, innovations\, and creativity with the Sulphur Springs and surrounding communities.
