SUMMARY:African Origins of Modern Healthcare
DESCRIPTION:This exhibit examines the roots of African medical practices in the Diaspora and in America. Of all the acknowledgements of the contributions to the New World\, the botanical contributions of enslaved Africans have gone unrecognized. One of the least explored aspects of the history of Africa pertains to African medicinal knowledge. The enslaved Africans laid the foundation for 20th century knowledge about the uses of plant life for medicine.

SUMMARY:A NEW CONVERSATION ABOUT AMERICA’S MAP
DESCRIPTION:Join Dr. Mohsen Milani and Dr. Thomas P.M. Barnett as they have a conversation about our standing among the international community and the geopolitical challenges we face. \nDuring the conversation Dr. Milani and Dr. Barnett will apply their decades of experience in foreign policy and engage with audience members on how America can regain its footing as a global leader amidst the three inevitabilities of globalization: climate crisis\, shifting demographics\, and the rise of global middle-class consumption. Our current era demands new approaches\, courageous ideas and bold leadership. We invite you to join this productive conversation about our national strategies to inspire action for our future. \nFollowing the conversation\, Dr. Barnett will host a book signing session. \nDr. Barnett’s latest book\, “America’s New Map: Restoring Our Global Leadership in an Era of Climate Change and Demographic Collapse\,” will be available to purchase at the event. \n
